Giuseppe Carrus
Giuseppe Carrus is an Italian sommelier, journalist, restaurateur and wine marketing professional. Born and raised on the mediterranean island of Sardinia surrounded by good food and wine, Giuseppe moved to Cagliari to study communications at Cagliari university, which included a thesis on the language of food guides. He also worked as a sommelier and became a successful restaurateur, then completed his sommelier diploma and the Gambero Rosso Master’s program. Today, Giuseppe is the editor of the Vini d’Italia wine guide, responsible for selecting their annual Tre Bicchieri award winners with co-curators Marco Sabellico and Gianni Fabrizio. He spends half the year critiquing wine for the guide and writing about Italian wine. The other half is spent travelling with Gambero Rosso’s world tours, hosting tastings, masterclasses and promoting Italian wine around the globe. He also teaches wine and food tasting at the Gambero Rosso Academy, and contributes to the Top Italian Restaurants Guide, showcasing the world’s best Italian restaurants. He has appeared on Gambero Rosso TV since 2020, hosting Italian wine specials, and his very own “La Mia Sardegna”, a journey through Sardinia. Beyond wine, Giuseppe is passionate about beer, spirits and cocktails. Whatever the setting, you’ll always find him with a glass in hand and a good story to tell.
