Wine trade, hospitality and media are invited to this exclusive event showcasing 45 leading Italian wineries, selected from the renowned Vini d’Italia guide. Participating wineries include: Gaja, Masciarelli, Marchesi Frescobaldi, Pieve Santa Restituta, Ronco dei Tassi, Lunae Bosoni, Paolo Leo and Pio Cesare. Even more exciting, 24 of the wineries are not represented in Australia, making this a rare opportunity to taste wines that are currently unavailable in the local market. The roadshow provides a unique setting for importers and trade professionals to connect with Italian producers on Australian soil. Italian Wine Masterclasses

Three Italian wine masterclasses will be hosted by Giuseppe Carrus, Editor of the Vini d'Italia (Italian Wines) guide by Gambero Rosso. Guests will be taken on an intimate journey through Italy’s diverse wine making landscape, each session features 14 top Italian wines selected from the roadshow producers. Seating is extremely limited and tickets sell out every year, so book early to secure your place. 

Kindly note there is a limit of one masterclass per guest, so that more people can enjoy the experience. Any bookings with more than one masterclass per person will have some tickets automatically cancelled without notice, we appreciate your understanding.

Giuseppe Carrus

Giuseppe Carrus is a renowned Italian journalist, sommelier, restaurateur and wine marketer. Born and raised on the mediterranean island of Sardinia surrounded by good food and wine, Giuseppe studied communications at Cagliari university, which included a thesis on the language of food guides. He worked as a sommelier and became a successful restaurateur, then completed his sommelier diploma and the Gambero Rosso Master’s program. Today, Giuseppe is Editor ofVini d’Italia (Italian Wines) guide, selecting the annual Tre Bicchieri award winners with co-curators Marco Sabellico and Gianni Fabrizio. He spends half of the year critiquing and writing about Italian wine. The other half is spent travelling with Gambero Rosso’s world tours, hosting tastings and promoting Italian wine around the globe. He also teaches wine and food tasting at Gambero Rosso Academy, and contributes to the Top Italian Restaurants Guide, which showcases exceptional Italian dining abroad. He has appeared on Gambero Rosso TV since 2020, hosting wine programs, and his very own “La Mia Sardegna”, a journey through Sardinia. Beyond wine, Giuseppe is passionate about beer, spirits and cocktails. Whatever the setting, you’ll always find him with a glass in hand and a good story to tell.

Street parking is limited in this area, so we recommend using public transport or planning ahead. The venue is a 5 minute walk from Circular Quay, with ferry, bus, train and light rail services in all directions.

  • The Top Italian Wines Roadshow is FREE to attend for genuine wine trade, hospitality, media & invited guests.

  • Only wineries that are featured in the Vini d’Italia wine guide are invited to join the roadshow.

  • There are plenty of options! Any public transport that will take you to Circular Quay will work, then you can walk from there, see above for details & parking options.

  • There will be full list of wines available via QR code at the event.

  • Yes, there will be copies of the guide available to purchase at the registration desk, pick up a copy early to avoid disappointment.

  • Due to high demand, there is a limit of one masterclass per guest, to allow more people the chance to experience it. This also reduces the number of no-shows on the day. Kindly note that anyone who books 2 sessions will have 1 automatically cancelled, we appreciate your understanding.

  • The masterclasses are always sold out before event day, however there are always some no-shows, so you are welcome to come to the door at the beginning of the session & ask if we have any places available. Our team will accomodate you if they can.

  • There will be some light antipasto and bread available throughout the day.

  • Unfortunately not, this years event is only for wine trade, hospitality, media & invited guests.
